Modern Technology

The most recent significant discoveries to benefit humankind in modern times are in the fields of handphone and computer technology.

A popular form of instant communication all over the world is handphone, which is usually called HP or cellular phone. HP is an electronic telecommunication mean which has same basic ability with conventional fixed line. But, HP is portable and wireless so we can bring it in our pocket. HP, beside its function for doing and receiving telephone calls, it also commonly has function of sending and receiving short message service, usually called SMS. The more expensive handphone also often add camera fiture and internet service (WAP, GPRS, 3G). There are also service of videophone and online television in their HP. With a phone in hand, we can communicate easily, browse, and chat. So, handphone can make people closer and closer in its function as instant coomunication.

In the last few decades, computer technology has made tremendous progress in the world of communication to benefit humankind. The progress is so fast, including development of PCs, laptops, cameras, DVD, spyware, printers, and so on. But the most succesfull progress is in field of internet. Nowadays, we can easily get many informations from internet. We can chat, send and receive e-mail from around the world. It enables us to communicate easily to people anytime and anywhere.

Technology has contributed enormously to advances in computer medicine, which has benefited both doctors and patients. Advances in computer technology provide a wide range of applications which are revolutionizing the practice of medicine. For example, the development of new software for the office creates a web of communication among physicians, staff members, health care facilities and associated agencies. This provides the physician with the prospect of a paperless office. Also, at the other end of the spectrum, the development of 3D work stations and software based on computational chemistry permits visualization of protein molecules involved in disease. Computer assisted molecular modeling has been used to construct working 3D models of lens alpha-crystallin.

To conclude, scientific research and experiments have certainly opened the doors to faster, more easily accesible information worldwide on handphone and the computer. Many of these discoveries have changed our lives for the better and have made the peoples of the world closer.
