Inroduce yourself

Welcome to Academic Writing Class. Please introduce yourself, your dream and, why you chose ITB as a place to study.

My name is Rio Chandra Hermanto Tampubolon, usually called Rio by my friends. But at home, I am called Chandra. For me, it doesn't matter. I was born and grew up in Dolokmarsaur, a small village in North Sumatera Province, on 5 March 1987. I am the seventh child of ten children of my parents. A big family, right? You may think my parents had disobeyed Planning Family Program. Then, I got my first education in SDN 091446 Saribujawa, about 6 km from my home. To go to the school, I went on foot accompanied by my friends. Then, my Junior High School education was in SMPN 1 Dolokpanribuan, not so far from my home and my Senior High School in SMAN 1 Dolokpanribuan. I graduated from the latest school in 2005. All the schools I mentioned lie in the village. Those quite affected my knowledge about the progress of technology and others outside then. Thus, it could be said to study in prestigious university such ITB is quite impossible. But currently, I am a student of ITB, in Electrical Engineering department, exactly in semester 2. To tell you the truth, this department had been my dream since I was in Senior High school. Fortunately, it had been come true. Thanks to God.

I chose ITB as a place to study because I really want to get many knowledges in a good university with high competition, and I think ITB is the right place. Many people said ITB is a top and favourite university for Indonesia level and so did I. This also I heard from my friends few months ago. I guess it can be my reason to be here, in ITB environment.

About dream, I do have a lot. Some of them are graduating from Electrical Engineering with a high mark, getting a good a job, then having a sweetheart to marry with, like most of people. I also want to develop my lovely country, Indonesia from poverty. In other words, I want to do the best to my family, my friends, and my country, especially to God.

I think that’s all I can write and sorry for being late. See you all in our lovely class.
